Allright snake loving friends, I just fell into having a new three foot ball python (yeah for me!) but I am a little worried about her behavior. I got her last friday, it was her second move in 4 days (the people who had originally bought her were not able to keep her due to land lord issues) so I have only taken her out a total of thee times so as to let her get used to her new surroundings. the first day or 2 she was all over her cage sniffing and what not, she was very amiable towards hanging out with me when I took her out as well, but since last sunday she has been hiding out under her water bowl! She has a lovely little half log which the former owners told me she was quite fond of, I have all her lighting set up properly, she is not due to be fed for another week. I have had BP's for 6 years but have not seen this sort of behavior, the only thing I can think of is that her tank is near a window that recieves a some indirect light, perhaphs it is to bright? Any help would be greatly appricated! Thanks!

Re: Strange behavior?
Sat, May 10, 2008 - 3:19 AMDoes she have a hide at both the warm (heated) end of her tank and the cooler end? What are the temps? Perhaps she is too warm?
Also, I know my snakes prefer all enclosed hides (with only one entrance) to the more exposed half-logs. Maybe she's just feeling a bit unsure in her new home and hiding in the more secure place (where less of her is in the open?
Hope this helps! :) -

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 10:30 AMThanks for the idea Mora, I blocked off her log from one side and she seems to be much happier!
